Rowan Milnes: Salford Red Devils sign half-back on loan | Manchester News

Salford Red Devils have signed half-back Rowan Milnes on loan for the rest of the season.

Salford were forced to cancel last Sunday’s game against Wakefield Trinity over concerns for their players’ welfare, with only two of their 17-man squad having any Super League experience in the last 12 months.

Milnes, 25, is the sixth player brought in on loan this week, having spent the last three weeks on loan at Hull KR without playing a game.

He had been at Castleford Tigers since the start of last season, but they terminated his contract after a falling-out with interim boss Chris Chester.

Salford, meanwhile, continue to haemorrhage players with Matty Foster and Ethan Ryan leaving to join Championship side Oldham.

The club have already seen 14 senior professionals leave this season because of their financial issues.

Ryan made 31 appearances for Salford over the last two seasons, scoring nine tries, while Foster had played 16 games in the current campaign.

Ryan Brierley and Jack Ormondroyd also left Salford to join Oldham recently.

Ryan told the Red Devils website, external: “It’s really sad to see what’s happening this year, given the squad we had at the start.

“I’m really hoping all this mess manages to iron itself out and the club can progress and move forward.”
