A Multihog treating potholes in south Shropshire

Shropshire Council’s two Multihog road planer machines will be tackling potholes on roads across Shropshire throughout September.

The Multevo Multihog planes off the road surface to enable a squared-off hole to be filled by a following gang. It’s quicker than having to saw-cut and break-out the defective road by hand – tackling potholes and other defects more quickly and effectively.

In September the Multihogs and their crews are set to treat the following roads.

Multihog 1

  • Wednesday 27 August to Friday 5 September – Fitz to Mytton
  • Monday 8 September to Wednesday 17 September – Bletchley Road to Calverhall
  • Thursday 18 September – King Street, Sheriffhales
  • Thursday 18 September – Vicarage Road, Meole Brace, Shrewsbury
  • Friday 19 September – Aylesford Bridge junction to B4386 to Powys county boundary
  • Monday 22 September to Tuesday 30 September – B4194, Dowles Road
  • Thursday 25 September to Tuesday 30 September – Coalport Road to A442 junction

Multihog 2

  • Monday 1 September to Wednesday 10 September – public footpath work across Shropshire.
  • Thursday 11 September – Brockton Court to A442, near Shifnal
  • Friday 12 September – A458 Wenlock Road roundabout to Stourbridge roundabout, Bridgnorth
  • Monday 15 September to Friday 19 September – Madeley Road, Beckbury
  • Monday 22 September to Friday 26 September – A488 Hanwood to Little Halston Farm
  • Monday 29 September to Monday 6 October – A488, Hanwood village

Work is carried out on weekdays only, between 9.30am and 4pm.

Each Multihog can treat 9,000m² of road each month, reduces the likelihood of potholes forming in the short-to-medium term, and cuts down on the need for road closures.

For more information about each scheme, see and search the interactive map on the one.network website.
