Steelers coach forced to cut post-game press conference short after incredibly awkward moment

It seems as though the preseason mindset has spread to the NFL media after the Pittsburgh Steelers’ post-game press conference ended without a question asked.

The Steelers secured a 31-25 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in their preseason opener on Saturday – before head coach Mike Tomlin met the media afterwards.

However, after delivering his opening statement to those in attendance, Tomlin was excused early given the fact that nobody had any questions for him.

In a video that emerged online, a member of the Steelers PR team could be heard saying: ‘Anyone?’ before Tomlin cracked a smile, thanked them and made an exit.

There were plenty of talks points from the game – such as Kaleb Johnson’s backfield debut or Cam Little’s record-breaking field goal – which made the silence even more bizarre.

Little’s 70-yard conversion – which went down as the longest field goal in NFL preseason history – came moments before halftime of the preseason opener.

Of course, NFL records are limited to the regular season and playoffs, but that doesn’t make Little’s bomb any less impressive.

Officially, the longest field goal in NFL history was 66 yards, set by then-Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker in 2021.

Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey also nailed a 66-yard attempt, but like Little’s 70-yarder, it too came in a preseason game.

Little’s field goal even surpassed the historic 69-yard conversion little-known Ove Johansson made for tiny Abilene Christian University in 1976.

The Jaguars bench erupted in celebration en route to the locker room, with first-round pick and former Heisman winner Travis Hunter running onto the field go give Little a leaping chest bump.
