Mets star Francisco Lindor lost his cool on Saturday after making a critical error against the Brewers.

With the bases loaded in the second inning, Lindor failed to corral a chopper from Joey Ortiz – allowing two baserunners to score for Milwaukee.

And Lindor was furious with himself after the inning ended, as he could be seen slamming his glove for several seconds in frustration.

‘I take a lot of pride in defense… Montas did everything right and I wasn’t able to come through for him,’ he told reporters after the game.

The mistake ultimately proved to be significant as the Mets fell to Milwaukee 7-4 to continue their brutal recent skid.

‘I have to be better,’ Lindor added. ‘I have to pick up my teammates and be there for them, I just have to be better.’

The loss was the Mets’ ninth defeat in 10 games, with the team rapidly losing pace in the NL East race.

The Mets (63-54) are now 4.5 games out of the division lead behind the Phillies, and currently occupy the last NL wild card spot.

They maintain a 2.5 game advantage there over the Reds still.

It’s been a difficult summer individually for Lindor too, as the five-time All-Star has badly struggled at the plate.

He’s hit just .176 since the All-Star Break with a .525 OPS in 20 games since.

The Mets and Lindor will look to bounce back on Sunday with another matchup against Milwaukee.

They’ll then return home to host the Braves for a three-game series.
