Sophie Cunningham admits she fears getting hit in the face by a sex toy but calls wild WNBA trend ‘funny’

Sophie Cunningham may be unfazed while playing in the WNBA with her spunky and physical style. A new fear may have been unlocked for the Indiana dynamo amid the league’s sex-toy epidemic.

Three different instances of neon green sex toys have been thrown on the court during league games over the last several days, prompting each player to raise their guard about possibly encountering such an item at their place of work.

Cunningham addressed the tossing of sex toys on the court during the latest episode of her podcast.

‘I was thinking about like, if someone threw that thing and like, first of all, the bounce that that thing had, if that smacks someone in the face, you know that’s gonna be plastered everywhere,’ Cunningham said.

‘I just know how things go viral now. And I just know that thing like, even came from like the rafters or bounced and just slapped me right in the face. That would be what I’d be known for, for life. So I was just trying to protect all of our images.’

One online gambling website took the fiasco to another level, as they offered six vulgar bets about the next possible instance of the unique disruption.

‘Funny thing is like my parents and my sister, they literally text me after or before every single game, saying, “Good luck,”‘ Cunningham continued.

‘I’ll send it so everyone can see this. But my mom goes, instead of like my good luck text, she goes, “Watch out for flying (sex toys) tonight.” And then the other one said, “Did you really just post the (sex toy) tweet?” It got some legs.’

The Fever return to action Wednesday night, again without Caitlin Clark for the eighth straight game, against the Los Angeles Sparks, with officials on high alert for another flying disruption.

In shocking scenes during the Chicago Sky’s game against the Golden State Valkyries last month, the sex object was hurled from the stands during the third quarter.

Officials swiftly stopped the game and swept the bright green object aside, as players and coaches stood bemused at the bizarre incident.

The commentators were equally as puzzled as they said: ‘We have a whistle away from the basketball. An object has been thrown onto the court’.

Sky star Kamilla Cardoso, however, evidently saw the funny side to the incident after being seen giggling with teammates while they game was brought to a stop.

Officials eventually swept the fluorescent green object to the side before one team member picked it up – using a towel – and disposed of it.
