Louis Rees-Zammit has revealed that he expects to sign with a new club in the coming weeks as he prepares for a return to rugby union.

Rees-Zammit shocked the sporting world in January of last year when he abruptly retired from the sport in order to pursue a career in American football.

The 24-year-old was brought on as part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway and initially signed with the Kansas City Chiefs before joining the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Ultimately though the Welshman did not earn a call up to the Jaguars’ active 53-roster, despite IPP rules allowing for it on two separate occasions and did not play a singular regular-season game.

On Friday Rees-Zammit announced on social media that he would end his foray into gridiron football calling it a ”great experience’.

The news has led to much speculation as to where the former Gloucester star will continue his career, and he insisted fans will not need to wait long to find out.

The 24-year-old earned 32 caps for Wales between 2020 and 2023 and starred in their 2021 Six Nations triumph

Rees-Zammit retired from rugby to pursue American football but ultimately did not feature in a regular season game for the two teams he contracted to

‘Obviously I can’t name teams,’ Rees-Zammit told Sky Sports.

‘But we’ve had a load of interest, which is unbelievable. I’m very grateful for that.

‘We’re still going through what the full plan is for me. The season starts pretty soon, so it’s about finding the right team for me in terms of location, in terms of how quick I’ve got to get into camp.’

He continued: ‘Because the season’s right around the corner so all these things are going to happen pretty sharpish.

‘Me and my brother are going through negotiations and seeing teams interested which is which is amazing so we should we should find out in the next week or so.’
