England star Lauren James is a fitness doubt for this Sunday’s European Championship clash with Spain in a potentially huge blow for the reigning European champions.
The 23-year-old winger was withdrawn at half-time during England’s 2-1 semi-final victory against Italy.
She was was seen with ice on her ankle on the bench for the remainder of the chaotic game.
England boss Sarina Wiegman said she ‘doesn’t know’ if James will be ready for Sunday’s showdown with the world champions, but that they are ‘going to give it a try.’
Wiegman added: ‘She’s still recovering. She’s doing things on the pitch and we have two more days so we’re going to give it a try.
‘I don’t know yet (if she’ll be ready), but that’s what we’re going to go for – 23 players available for the game on Sunday.’
