Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe has reportedly dropped the legal harassment case he had brought against former club PSG.

Mbappe, 26, joined Real on a free transfer from the Parisians last summer after he decided to run down his contract.

During his final season in Paris, Mbappe’s relationship with the club soured and he was even booed by fans during his last home game.

This led to other issues, including a wage dispute, and the 25-year-old is currently seeking around €55million (£46m) in unpaid salary and bonuses he says he is owed by the club.

The Ligue 1 champions, however, say Mbappe’s contract was ‘legally amended’ and that he reneged on commitments when he left the club to join Real Madrid on a free.

The matter has been ongoing since, but earlier this year Mbappe also filed a legal case against PSG for alleged moral harassment over the way he was treated when he revealed he would not be signing a new deal in the summer of 2023.

As a result of Mbappe’s decision, PSG were desperate to sell him and subsequently excluded him from their pre-season tour that summer, instead forcing him to train with fringe players.

Mbappe was unhappy with this treatment and in his original accusations, he hit out at the ‘lofting’ he had been subjected to. Lofting is a French word used to describe when a player is effectively isolated and put into a bomb squad.

However, according to L’Equipe, Mbappe has now dropped those legal proceedings.

The report claims this has come because Mbappe is keen for a reconciliation with his former club.

It is believed that Mbappe’s relationship with PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi has also improved over recent months.

Meanwhile, news of Mbappe’s decision comes in the week that he is set for a reunion with his former club for the first time.

Real take on PSG in the Club World Cup semi-final in New Jersey on Wednesday evening, with the French side hoping to add another title to their name after winning the Champions League in 2024-25.

Mbappe has endured a disrupted tournament after he was hospitalised with illness last month, but he has featured off the bench in their knockout games against Juventus and Borussia Dortmund.

Despite the 26-year-old’s move to drop his legal case against PSG, this does not impact the ongoing procedure in regards to his wage dispute which is set to be heard by an industrial tribunal.

Mbappe maintains he is owed around €55million (£46m) in unpaid wages from the final three months of his contract, but PSG insist they are in the right given he had allegedly verbally agreed not to leave the club for free.

Last year, the French football league’s governing body (LFP) ruled in favour of Mbappe, but PSG criticised this move and said they would be ‘forced to bring the case before the competent courts’ while still trying to find an ‘amicable solution’.

Mbappe, who is also French captain, is PSG’s all-time leading goalscorer after netting 256 times in 308 games fo the club between 2017 and 2024.

He won 15 trophies during his time at the Parc des Princes, but was unable to lift the Champions League, with PSG winning that tournament in the first season after his departure.
