WNBA fans rip into ‘strange’ Aliyah Boston question as Caitlin Clark steps in to ‘save’ teammate

WNBA fans reacted to a ‘strange’ question asked of Aliyah Boston after the Indiana Fever’s Commissioner’s Cup win – though teammate Caitlin Clark was credited for ‘saving’ her.

By beating the Lynx in the final of the in-season tournament, the Fever took home a $500,000 prize.

And during an interview with Prime Video after the game, Boston was asked what she would do with her cash winnings.

Boston quickly answered ‘that’s for me to know’ but couldn’t get the rest of her response in, as Clark (who did not play in the game due to injury) playfully barged into her teammate and screamed on camera to celebrate the win.

Nonetheless, some fans were not thrilled with Boston being asked the personal financial question.

‘That’s a strange question. As if she’s never had money before,’ one said on X.

‘Clark saved her Teammate from having to answer a personal question…. Every answer would have been wrong……,’ another chimed in.

And a third asked: ‘why is that the question?’ with crying-laughing emojis.

Ultimately, Boston was in good spirits after she scored 12 points, hauled in 11 rebounds and provided six assists in her team’s 74-59 win over Minnesota.

Natasha Howard also had 16 points, with five players in double-figure scoring in total.

Clark has been in and out of the lineup this season for the Fever as she’s struggled with injuries.

First, she was sidelined for five games with a quad injury, which she returned from last month.

But she only lasted another five games on the court before being ruled out again with a groin issue, which has seen her out of her action since June 24.

Clark’s numbers have also dipped from last year’s Rookie of the Year campaign, as her three-point percentage has gone from 34.4 percent to just 29.5 percent.

Nonetheless, she was voted by fans as a captain for the All-Star Game, as she received the most votes alongside Napheesa Collier.

However, Clark wasn’t held in quite the same esteem by her WNBA peers, as she finished just ninth in the player vote among guards.

Fans will hope she is healthy enough to compete in the All-Star Game on July 19.
