Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce and his pop superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance at Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals last week and rumors suggest they may make another.
In an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, NHL on TNT reporter Jackie Redmond cited ‘good sources’ saying that the couple could be making their way to Amerant Bank Arena on Tuesday night for Game 6 between the Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers.
Redmond told fans to ‘get excited’ before saying ‘not confirmed, but according to a good source’.
While exciting, there are plenty of reasons to believe why Kelce wouldn’t be showing up – even if there’s the possibility of the Panthers clinching back-to-back Stanley Cups.
For starters, the Chiefs begin their mandatory minicamp on the same day as Game 6.
This camp runs the entire week – with all 91 preseason roster players expected to be in attendance, with fines kicking in otherwise.
An NHL insider thinks Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift could watch the Stanley Cup Finals Tuesday
The fine for missing one day of mandatory minicamp is over $17,000 – with fines for missing the whole week ballooning up to $104,768.
Now, with that said, it’s possible for Kelce to hop on a private jet right after minicamp ends, fly the three hours from Kansas City to south Florida, drive to the arena just in time for puck drop and watch the game before flying three hours back, and landing at home at some ungodly hour of the morning before reporting back to training camp the next day.
But, Kelce also did just get back from France – where he spent time in Cannes with his brother Jason at a panel discussion hosted by Amazon.
Not only that, but while Kelce had been spending plenty of his offseason working out privately in Florida in preparation for the upcoming season, he skipped out on team OTA’s in order to do so.
He’s reportedly lost 25 pounds in preparation for his 13th NFL campaign after spending most of last offseason globetrotting with Swift or pursuing other business opportunities.
This time, he’s been mostly laying low – working on improving himself for what could be his final NFL season.
Kelce did briefly consider retirement this offseason before confirming that he’d return to the Chiefs.
