Soccer Aid fans have expressed their dismay after realising that an A-list celebrity has been omitted from this year’s line-up.

This year’s match will once again take place at Old Trafford and gets underway on Sunday evening at 7:30pm BST.

It will feature a host of stars including former Lionesses legend Jill Scott and ex-Manchester United legends Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney.

Meanwhile, their celebrity opposition will consist of the likes of pop star and former Aston Villa academy player Tom Grennan, comedian Paddy McGuinness, and Olympic gold-winning medalist Mo Farah.

However, some fans have been upset by the absence of one star who was previously a regular at the event.

They took to social media to voice their displeasure at the decision, with numerous Soccer Aid fans appearing unhappy on Instagram.

It saw them bemoan the snubbing of former One Direction star Niall Horan in a post from Soccer Aid’s official account on the platform.

One user wrote: ‘Niall Horan please!’

A second added: ‘We need Niall Horan’.

A third said: ‘Niall Horan please it would be amazing to see Niall and Louis play together again, especially in person’.

A further comment read: ‘WE WANT NIALL’

Tickets for Soccer Aid are still available to purchase online, with prices starting at £10.50 for under-16s seat to £94.50 for a ‘premium’ hospitality ticket, which includes lounge access and a complimentary match programme.

It will also be broadcast live on free-to-air TV in the UK, with coverage on ITV1 beginning at 6pm BST in addition to being streamed on ITVX.

The World XI currently leads England in head-to-head wins, having claimed seven victories to six.

However, England were able to narrow the gap in last year’s fixture at Stamford Bridge thanks to goals from Joe Cole, Theo Walcott and Steven Bartlett.
