Storymine is seeking offers of funding support for its Community Clay Club project in Ludlow and South Shropshire.

This aim is to improve people’s wellbeing and tackle loneliness in vulnerable, isolated and rural communities by running open workshops for anyone to come and try modelling with clay.

Making things with clay.

Community Clay Club helps people to come together, be creative and benefit from mutual support, particularly in rural areas where isolation can be a real problem.

The project is seeking support through Crowdfund Shropshire to run 16 clay workshops in community spaces across South Shropshire, supporting approximately 200 people.

Through Crowdfund Shropshire, Shropshire Council and its partners have been able to pledge £5,000 to the Community Clay Club project. The scheme is now less than £1,800 short of the £9,666 it needs to get the project up and running.

Councillor Alex Wagner, Shropshire Council’s deputy leader and Cabinet member for communities, said:

“When people are busy in their daily lives it can be easy to forget how creating art boosts self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment. The Community Clay Club can  make a real difference and help more people come together around to this in their local communities.

“If you are in a position to help, please consider just donating a few pounds and collectively we can help the project reach its target. You can find out more about this project and others on the Crowdfund Shropshire website.”

Donations and more details about the project are at Community Clay Club

More about Crowdfund Shropshire

Crowdfund Shropshire is a civic crowdfunding platform delivered by Shropshire Council in partnership with crowdfunding specialists, Spacehive. Other partners include Shropshire VCS Assembly, Community Resource and the Voluntary and Community Support Team, Shropshire Wildlife Trust and Energize. The approach matches larger public sector pledges (awards) with local fundraising.

This uses funds from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund which proactively supports delivery of the UK-government’s five national missions: pushing power out to communities everywhere, with a specific focus to help kickstart economic growth and promoting opportunities in all parts of the UK.
