After inducting their greatest ever player into the team’s Hall of Fame last summer, the New England Patriots are taking another measure to honor the career and legacy of Tom Brady.

The six-time Super Bowl champions have announced they will be unveiling a statue of the former quarterback outside of Gillette Stadium.

Brady’s statue will be revealed when the team plays its first game of the preseason against the Washington Commanders on August 8.

The Patriots announced the details on June 12, which the team refers to as ‘Tom Brady Day’.

That’s because June is the sixth month of the year, which represents the six Super Bowl titles he won with the Patriots. Plus, 12 was the number Brady wore throughout his NFL career.

Adding to the symbolism, the statue of Brady will be 12-feet tall.

Initial plans for the statue were announced last June – when Brady was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame.

‘[The statue] will stand alone in the plaza outside of the Hall of Fame to symbolize his position, not as the greatest in franchise history, but as the greatest in all of NFL history,’ team owner Robert Kraft said at the time.

The 47-year-old Brady has been retired since 2023, but has stayed near the game.

Brady is currently a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and is a commentator for Fox Sports.

Often considered the greatest NFL player in history, Brady won a record seven Super Bowl titles and holds countless league passing records – including completions, passing attempts, passing yards, and passing touchdowns.
