News from Cornovii Developments Limited

A new partnership between Cornovii Developments Limited and Kettel Homes is set to unlock homeownership for more Shropshire residents, with the launch of a Rent to Own programme at Cornovii’s Charles View development on London Road in Shrewsbury.

Available immediately for first move-ins from August 2025, a collection of three-bedroom homes will become available through this innovative scheme, designed exclusively for first-time buyers who are working towards saving a deposit.

How Rent to Own Works

Rent to Own offers an alternative path to homeownership for households who can afford monthly rent and would like a structured path to saving their deposit to purchase with a mortgage while they live in the home they want to own.

Through the partnership, eligible residents can move into one of the selected Charles View homes with just a 1% deposit on today’s home value. They’ll rent the home for an initial three-year term, during which time they can live in and treat it as their own while continuing to save. After the three-year period, they’ll have the opportunity to purchase the home at a pre-agreed price set from the start—providing security and predictability in a fluctuating market.

Structured to help customers reach a 10% deposit plus legal costs, the Rent to Own programme offers fixed monthly rent over the three-year period and provides a clear savings pathway—giving households certainty over their outgoings and a structured route towards homeownership.

Importantly, the initial 1% deposit is fully refundable if the full three-year rental term is completed, even if the buyer chooses not to go ahead with the purchase.

Supporting Shropshire’s First-Time Buyers
This programme reflects Cornovii’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality homes for local people and aligns with wider efforts to make homeownership more accessible in Shropshire.

Harpreet Rayet, Managing Director of Cornovii Developments Ltd, said:

“At Cornovii, we’re committed to helping Shropshire residents find secure, high-quality homes that work for them. Partnering with Kettel allows us to offer a flexible new route onto the housing ladder for people who might otherwise be left behind by the traditional market. Charles View is a fantastic development, and we’re proud to see these homes support first-time buyers in such a meaningful way.”

Trevor Stunden, CEO of Kettel Homes, added:

“Rent to Own is designed to make homeownership more achievable—especially in places like Shrewsbury where deposits can be a real barrier. Our model gives people the chance to move in, settle down, and buy when they’re ready, with certainty on the price. We’re excited to launch this partnership with Cornovii and offer local residents a clear and affordable path to owning their own home.”

Julia Buckley, MP Shrewsbury, commented:

“I’m delighted to see Kettel Homes offered to Shrewsbury residents through this exciting partnership with Cornovii, and pleased to have introduced these two supportive organisations. Kettel’s model offers the kind of help many local renters need to take their first step onto the housing ladder and stay in our beautiful area.”

James Owen, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for housing and leisure, added:

“Shropshire Council’s new administration is committed to helping our county’s residents find secure, high-quality homes that work for them. Through its housing company Cornovii Developments Ltd, Shropshire Council partnering with Kettel allows for a flexible new route onto the housing ladder for people who might otherwise be left behind by the traditional market. Charles View looks to be a fantastic development, and I am delighted to see these homes support first-time buyers in such a meaningful way.”

A family-friendly community, the Charles View development offers well-located, energy-efficient homes within reach of Shrewsbury’s amenities and transport links, making it an ideal setting for first-time buyers ready to take their next step.
