Ireland’s Shared Island Civic Society Fund

Community-focused organisations are invited to apply for the Shared Island Civic Society Fund

Funding is available to support community-focused organisations in developing new cross-border links, strengthening existing partnerships, or creating or broadening cross-border connectivity.

This initiative is part of the Shared Island programme, which aims to foster cooperation and understanding between communities, based on the Good Friday Agreement.

This funding is provided jointly by the Shared Island Initiative and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. A total budget of €6 million has been allocated for the 2025–2027 period. Individual projects may receive grants of up to €50,000. 

Who can apply?

Applications should demonstrate a clear partnership between at least one organisation based in the South and at least one organisation based in the North or should be from an all-island body.

Eligible applicants include 

  • trade unions, business, social enterprise
  • community/voluntary sector
  • civic societies and other regional or national representative bodies

Priority areas

Applications are particularly encouraged in the following thematic areas

  • environment
  • women
  • youth
  • migrants

How to apply

Applications for the Shared Island Civic Society Fund should be submitted via the Grant Application Portal.
