Nintendo Switch 2 – live updates on where to buy as stock sells out – UK Times

I’ve already spent hours reviewing the new console (Alex Lee/The Independent)

A day after launch, the Nintendo Switch 2 is sold out in the UK. Consoles began quietly landing at shops yesterday morning, and now it’s a race against the clock to secure one.

Argos, EE, Amazon, Currys and Smyths Toys have completely run dry, as have Very and ShopTo. Not only is there no same-day stock, it looks like there’s no stock at all.

However, we’ve seen a lot of surprise stock drops over this console launch, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I have to completely rewrite this introduction in the next five minutes. While there’s no stock at the moment, it’s worth checking back every half hour or so in case there’s any movement.

I've already nabbed a console - here's how to get your own

The Switch 2 might look familiar, but there’s a lot going on underneath. It’s powered by a new custom Nvidia chip, so games don’t just load faster, they look better and run more smoothly. You get 12GB of RAM (up from 4GB on the original Switch), and most of that goes straight into powering games, not just background stuff.

The screen is still LCD, not OLED, but it’s bigger at 7.9in and has 1080p resolution. It supports HDR and a 120Hz refresh rate. Colours pop more and motion looks buttery-smooth in handheld mode. There’s also DLSS upscaling built in, so older games look better. Sadly, while it supports variable refresh rates, it doesn’t work when docked – just in handheld mode.

The Nintendo Switch 2 on its own costs £399.99, and the main bundle with Mario Kart World costs £429.99. Buying the bundle saves you £40 compared to picking up the game separately, so it’s the better value if you’re planning to grab it anyway.

No big discounts yet – it’s launch day, after all – but some retailers have larger, more expensive bundles. These include the new Switch 2 camera (£49, Amazon.co.uk), the Pro controller (£74.99, Very.co.uk) and the official carry case and screen protector (£20.99, Amazon.co.uk), as well as extra games and accessories.

Nintendo Switch 2 launch games

There’s a stacked line-up of Switch 2 games for day one. Mario Kart World is obviously the big one, but you’ve also got upgraded versions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, plus mammoth games like Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition and Hogwarts Legacy – two games that really test the console’s muscle.

Other launch day games include Hades 2, Split Fiction, Sonic X Shadow Generations, Street Fighter 6, Survival Kids and Suikoden I & II HD Remaster. You’ve also got Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and Deltarune Chapters 1–4, plus more niche picks like Fantasy Life i and Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD. Civilization VII and No Man’s Sky are here too, and Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour acts as a mini showcase for the new hardware.

On top of that, loads of older Nintendo titles have been patched with free performance updates, and Wind Waker, F-Zero GX and Soul Calibur II are now available through the new Switch Online GameCube library.

Where to buy a Switch 2 right now

Stock looks very depleted this morning. As of right now, you have two options, and neither is great.

The Switch is technically still available at Argos, but I’ve only found it in one shop in the country. It’s still worth checking if you live somewhere relatively remote, but it looks like there’s no stock in big cities. Keep refreshing – you might have more luck over this morning

Your other option is EE, which seems to have plenty of stock. the drawback here is that you need to be an EE customer. The Mario Kart World bundle is available on a £22 a month for 24 months plan, which works out at £526, much more expensive in the long run than the £429.99 launch price. You can’t buy the deal if you’re already on a 24 month plan with the network, either.

That said, if you’re an EE customer, or you were thinking about becoming one, this might be your best shot at a Switch today.

Argos sells out (ish)

Morning all. I’ve been combing through the stock to see what’s left, and it looks like you’re out of luck at Argos. I’ve been going through stock at Argos locations across the country, and I’ve only found it available in Strabane.

Nintendo Switch 2 stock check

And that’s it from me tonight, folks. I’ll be back at 6am tomorrow to report on all the restock information. With any luck, my full review of the console will also be ready to read too.

As a final recap before I head off, your best for securing the Switch 2 is at Argos. The retailer has the standalone console in stock now, with click-and-collect available at select locations depending on your postcode.

If you’ve been on the hunt for the Mario Kart World bundle, I hope you’ve managed to secure it. If not, we go again tomorrow.

If you’re yet to get your hands on the console but are interested in seeing what will be inside the box, gaming correspondent Jake Brigstock has delivered.

Jake has filmed a full unboxing for you, taking you through exactly what you can expect when yours arrives.

An update on Nintendo Switch 2 stock

It’s been some time since I last updated you. The situation remains fairly similar. It’s sold out at Very, but the console is available to buy at Argos, ShopTo and EE.

The one addition to this lineup is Asda. The supermarket was the only retailer to have midnight stock at launch, which was certainly a surprise. You can buy the standalone console right now. I can’t see Mario Kart World listed on the website, so you’ll have to buy this elsewhere. But, it’s in stock across the board – Amazon, Argos, Very… the list goes on.

Where can you buy a Nintendo Switch 2 right now?

Stock’s still selling out fast, but a handful of UK retailers are showing availability, including some with same-day collection or delivery next week.

Argos has consoles in stock now, with same-day click-and-collect available at select locations depending on your postcode.

EE is also listing stock, though it’s only open to pay-monthly customers, with delivery in one to three working days.

Over at ShopTo, the Switch 2 is available to buy, with delivery expected from Monday, 9 June.

Very has one bundle left, but the wait’s a little longer. Consoles purchased now are currently showing a delivery date of Friday, 13 June.

Game might be all out of stock

It doesn’t look like you can buy the Nintendo Switch 2 from Game anymore. The standalone console listing now redirects straight back to the main Switch 2 hub, and the Mario Kart World bundle link leads to a “not found” error page. It was live earlier this morning, so it looks like everything’s now been snapped up.

No idea if it’s a temporary glitch or if Game is fully out of stock. For now, it’s worth keeping an eye on the main listing page.

Game stock update: Standalone Switch 2 console still available

Game is still offering the standalone Nintendo Switch 2 console for both home delivery and collection, but it’s not the most straightforward option. There’s no clear dispatch or pickup estimate shown at checkout.

Standard delivery costs £4.99 and can take between 3 and 7 days, depending on location. Collection is also available, but annoyingly, it still costs £4.99, and according to Game’s help pages, collection can take up to 14 days to arrive in store. You might as well pay for the home delivery – it’ll be quicker.

If speed is your priority, Amazon and Argos are still your best bets.

Who has the Mario Kart World bundle in stock?

Right now, only a few retailers still have the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle available – but each comes with a caveat.

EE has stock, but it’s only available to pay-monthly customers. You’ll need to add the bundle to your mobile plan, and delivery usually takes 1–3 days.

ShopTo has the standard Mario Kart World bundle available for £429.85 on back-order, but delivery won’t arrive until Monday, 9 June – so not ideal if you’re after it for the weekend.

Amazon Switch 2 stock update: Bundle sells out, console still available

Amazon has also run out of the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle. But the standalone console is still in stock as of now.

If you’re a Prime member, you can get it delivered as soon as tomorrow, so it’s one of the fastest options left.
