Democrats can barely contain their glee over Trump and Musk’s ‘big beautiful breakup’

Just in time for German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s visit to Washington, Democrats enjoyed a healthy helping of schadenfreude as President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s feud went nuclear in real time.

“The big beautiful breakup?” Rep. Sarah McBride asked in response to a question from The Independent Thursday about Trump and Musk’s spat, a reference to the “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” Trump’s centerpiece legislation that seeks to extend the 2017 tax cuts, slash social spending and ramp up immigration spending.

The first inklings of a crack in the partnership that started when the Tesla CEO bankrolled Trump’s return to the White House and blossomed as he took on the DOGE role of slashing government spending, came on Tuesday, when Musk called Trump’s bill an “outrageous, pork-filled, disgusting abomination.”

White House press secretary calls Musk and Trump feud an “unfortunate episode”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt commented on Elon Musk and Donald Trump’s public feud on Thursday.

She described the spat between the two as little more than “an unfortunate episode,” the Washington Post reports.

“This is an unfortunate episode from Elon, who is unhappy with the One Big Beautiful Bill because it does not include the policies he wanted. The President is focused on passing this historic piece of legislation and making our country great again,” Leavitt said.

Newsmax anchor asks Elon Musk why he let Trump be with his son if he knows Trump is on Epstein list

Carl Higbie, an anchor on the pro-Trump Newsmax channel, weighed in on the president’s ongoing feud with Elon Musk.

Higbie defended Trump from a comment Musk made earlier today alleging that the president is on the Epstein client list.

The insinuation Musk is making is that Trump is complicit in the crimes against minors that took place on Epstein’s island and airplane.

“Elon, if you knew he was on the Epstein client list, why did you let him board Marine One with your son? Just asking.”

Republican Senator Jim Banks says today has been a “really good day” for Donald Trump

Senator Jim Banks said that today has been a “really good day” for Donald Trump despite the president’s massive, public blow up with former ally and advisor Elon Musk.

“This has actually been a really good day for President Trump,” he said during an interview on CNN. “He’s taking the high ground with Elon.”

Banks said Trump is more focused on getting his “Big, Beautiful Bill” passed.

Musk has been firing off about Trump on social media all day. Trump, meanwhile, said he didn’t “mind” Musk turning against him, but wish he would have done it earlier.

George Clooney admits ‘everyone worries about’ being targeted by Trump

Since Trump was elected in November under a campaign which promised retribution, some of the president’s loudest critics have put down their megaphones out of fear he may come after them next.

“Sure, everybody worries about it,” Clooney told CNN’s Anderson Cooper when he was asked about it. “But you know, if you spend your life worrying about things, then you won’t do things.”

Clash of the titans: Immovable object of Trump ego met unstoppable force of Musk arrogance in trolling for the ages

The twisted friendship that everyone knew couldn’t last, whose breakup it was foretold would create enough bitterness to fuel a SpaceX mission to Mars, is no more.

The immovable object that is Donald Trump’s ego has met the unstoppable force that is Elon Musk’s (allegedly) ketamine-fueled arrogance, and the results are already reshaping the political landscape.

Never in history has the world seen behind the curtain at a feud between two such powerful men, only for them to be exposed as petty schoolchildren.
