Fans are all saying the same thing about Trent Alexander-Arnold’s final outrageous pass for Liverpool ahead of Real Madrid move

Fans were left fawning at Trent Alexander-Arnold’s outrageous pass during his final Liverpool appearance on Sunday.

Alexander-Arnold revealed earlier this month that he would be leaving the Reds – having spent 20 years at the club – on a free transfer when his contract expires this summer.

The England international is set to complete a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, who he has been continuously linked with throughout a lengthy saga.

Mail Sport was the first English newspaper to report that Madrid were confident of securing Alexander-Arnold back in December – and not much has changed along the way.

The 26-year-old’s decision to leave his boyhood club has attracted criticism in some quarters, with Liverpool fans booing the defender during a recent game against Arsenal at Anfield, while he has faced vitriol online.

And Alexander-Arnold made his final appearance for the club on Sunday against Crystal Palace, replacing Conor Bradley as a half-time substitute.

Fans hailed Trent Alexander-Arnold’s outrageous pass during his final Liverpool appearance

The Reds drew 1-1 before lifting the Premier League title in a relatively low-key game, but one moment from Alexander-Arnold got fans talking.

Midway through the second half, the right back – who did receive a warm reception – took the ball from Diogo Jota, before he unleashed a sublime defence-splitting pass.

The ball found Darwin Nunez, but the Uruguayan was denied at close range by Dean Henderson.

Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, who was in attendance at Anfield, let out a hilarious reaction as he could be seen smiling, while he said: ‘Wow, what a ball.’

And fans were left similarly shocked by Alexander-Arnold’s show of class as they took to social media to express their thoughts.

‘Mbappe is going to have fun next season,’ one said, in reference to Alexander-Arnold becoming a team-mate of the French superstar at Real.

Others chimed in with similar thoughts as another fan added: ‘Mbappe might score 50 goals with this kinda service.’

A further fan said: ‘Mbappe + Trent, it will be scary but not for us,’ as another quipped: ‘Mbappe will have a field day.’

Others highlighted the rich array of attacking talent Real have within their squad and the bump in quality compared to Nunez.

‘Give that to Mbappe and is a goal,’ an extra individual added, before another said: ‘I just know Mbappe and Vini are going to have a ball.’

Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold struggled to hold back the tears after Sunday’s game as he spoke to Sky Sports and the floodgates opened when he embraced his mum Dianne and dad Michael, with his brothers joining them on the pitch.

‘I didn’t know what to expect stepping out at Anfield today after what had happened,’ he admitted.

‘But I wanted to play for the club one more time, I told the manager, and he trusted me. The reception I got means so much to me. I have never felt more loved and more cared for than today.

‘I hope that one day the fans and supporters of this club are able to recognise the hard work I put in for this team.

‘From six to 26, 20 years is a very long time. I have loved every second of it, it has been an honour and a privilege to be a part of this club.

‘I’ll remember these moments for the rest of my life. This day will go down as the best in my life.’
