Pep Guardiola CONFRONTS Dean Henderson as Crystal Palace win the FA Cup after goalkeeper escaped red card call before saving penalty in final

Pep Guardiola confronted Dean Henderson after Crystal Palace were crowned FA Cup champions on Saturday.

Henderson played a key role in Palace’s historical win, saving a penalty from Omar Marmoush after Erling Haaland had opted to give his strike partner the ball instead of taking it himself.

There were questions over whether he should have still been on the pitch, though, as he handled the ball outside the penalty area and survived a VAR call.

In the first half, when Palace were winning 1-0 through Eberechi Eze, Haaland ran at goal and Henderson made the call to run off his line. He had mistimed his approach, however, and was unable to legally handle the ball, with Haaland reaching it before the ball entered the box.

The England goalkeeper did still choose to use his hands, however, with replays showing it was indeed outside the box. He slapped the ball away, with a lengthy VAR check deciding it didn’t warrant a sending off.

That was evidently something Guardiola didn’t agree with, and he appeared to make that clear at full time.

As Palace’s players celebrated, Guardiola approached Henderson and cut a frustrated figure. The Palace goalkeeper refused to back down as the pair exchanged heated words.

Guardiola looked at Henderson and wagged his finger, while Henderson smiled and put his hands up to gesture the number 10.

Palace boss Oliver Glasner then hugged his goalkeeper, and Henderson said something else to Guardiola, who seemingly remonstrated.

The Spanish boss then got one final word in, before he was ushered away by Palace substitute goalkeeper Matt Turner.

After the game, Henderson said he told Guardiola: ‘You got your 10 minutes like you wanted.’ Guardiola, meanwhile insisted he said ‘nothing’.

Henderson told BBC Sport at full time: ‘It’s incredible, we had a feeling it would be our day today. We deserve this so much

On the penalty, he added: ‘To be fair Haaland might have stepped up, I wasn’t sure which way to go, but Marmoush, I knew where he was going.

‘I lost my dad at the start of the season, but he was there every kick of the ball with me today. I dedicate this win to him.’
