Mason Greenwood has spoken out over his Marseille future amid reports the French club could listen to offers for the former Man United forward this summer.

Greenwood is the second top goalscorer in Ligue 1 this season having struck 19 times, with only Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele ahead on 21.

The 23-year-old’s goals have proved key to Marseille sealing a return to the Champions League this season.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side will be assured of finishing as Ligue 1 runners-up should they beat Rennes in their final match of the season on Saturday.

Despite an impressive debut season, Greenwood has faced criticism at points this season for his work rate from supporters and was briefly dropped by De Zerbi.

French outlet RMC Sport reported this week that Marseille are not desperate to retain Greenwood this summer, following claims two Premier League clubs could look to bring him back to England.

Greenwood, speaking at a press conference on Friday, has stressed he wants to remain at Marseille next season.

‘I hope to be here next year and play in the Champions League,’ Greenwood said.   ‘Players have told me it’s special to play here.

‘I think it’s been a very positive season, we’ve reached our objective.

‘I recently had a baby here with my girlfriend, I feel at home here, it is a very special place.

‘Not a lot of people get to come to Marseille and get to experience playing for this amazing football club.

‘I am happy and with the goals I have scored this season, it is a big achievement for me and with the players and staff we have here, anything is possible.’

In February, Greenwood welcomed his second child with his partner Harriet Robson.

Greenwood previously revealed his first child, daughter Summer, had been born in July 2023.

Greenwood and his family moved to Marseille last summer after he completed a £30million move from Manchester United.

The forward joined the club following a season long loan spell at Spanish side Getafe last season.

It was decided he would leave Man United after he was arrested in January 2022 before being charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.

Charges against Greenwood were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service following the ‘withdrawal of key witnesses and new material coming to light’.

Reports recently claimed that Greenwood is ‘pining’ for a return to his home country, and believes that such a move would be possible because the ‘vitriol’ aimed at him during his time charged with domestic assault and afterwards has ‘died down’.
