Jacksonville Jaguars swoop for ex-Buffalo Bills man to join Travis Hunter in dramatic offseason rebuild

The Jaguars continued their dramatic offseason rebuild this week by signing a former Bills tight end.

Jacksonville, following a 4-13 season last year, have had a busy few months as they hired a new head coach in Liam Coen, a new GM in James Gladstone and traded up to the No. 2 pick in the draft to select two-way talent Travis Hunter.

And they further bolstered the offense this week with the signing of former Buffalo tight end Quintin Morris on a one-year deal, as reported by Jordan Schultz.

The financial details of the deal were not disclosed, though he earned $3.2million total in Buffalo after signing there in 2021, per Spotrac.

Morris, a former undrafted free agent, worked his way into a backup role with the Bills and appeared in 45 games over the last three seasons, with four starts.

He caught 15 passes for 146 yards and three touchdowns in that span.

However, as Schultz noted, Morris is known for his blocking ability, which could be an asset as the Jaguars try to improve on the ground.

Jacksonville finished just 26th (of 32) in rushing yards per game last year with 101.7 per contest.

Meanwhile, Morris’ Bills averaged the ninth-most rushing yards per game (131.2) and scored a league-high 32 rushing touchdowns in the regular season.

The Jaguars also had the worst pass defense in the NFL in 2024, which the addition of Hunter should address, though it remains to be seen how he’ll split his time between receiver and defensive back.

Jacksonville also addressed their secondary in the draft, taking cornerback Caleb Ransaw in the third round and safety Rayuan Lane III in the sixth.

Like the rest of the NFL’s teams, the Jaguars released their 2025 schedule on Wednesday, as they collaborated with viral morning routine influencer Ashton Hall to create a video.

Ultimately, it was revealed that – aside from their usual AFC South foes – the Jaguars will travel to San Francisco in Week 4, host the Chiefs in Week 5, and open the season against the Panthers.

They’ll also be traveling to London in Week 7 to face the Rams, and will host the Chargers in Week 11.
