Draymond Green has been slammed for playing the ‘victim’ after claiming he is being portrayed in the media as an ‘angry black man’ on the court.

The Golden State Warriors superstar received his fifth technical of the season in a loss to the Timberwolves last week, and exploded at the referees in the aftermath.

Speaking to reporters in the locker room postgame he claimed he is ‘sick’ of the ‘ridiculous’ attempts to portray him in a certain way… but he is receiving plenty of criticism for his comments.

‘Oh, God. You know what? Go away, Draymond,’ ESPN basketball reporter Tim MacMahon said on The Hoop Collective. ‘Shut up, dude.

‘Do not play victim here. Don’t play the victim here. Stop doing flagrant stuff. We’re sick of it. We’re sick of you doing stupid, flagrant crap on a regular basis. It’s not an agenda, Draymond.

‘You get break after break after break after break, and you keep on pushing the line. It was not an agenda to make you look angry when you punched your teammate in the face.

‘It was not an agenda to make you look angry when you grabbed Rudy Gobert and put him in a sleeper hold. It was not an agenda to make you look angry when you punched or smacked, or whatever you want to call it, Jusuf Nurkic upside the head.

‘Draymond is full of crap. He’s just so full of crap that his breath stinks. Like what are we talking about here, dude? Please.’

The 35-year-old is two technical fouls away from a one-game suspension. That would represent a huge blow for the Warriors, who are already without the injured Steph Curry.

Head coach Steve Kerr warned Green that he must be ‘careful’ moving forward but the forward believes he is the victim of an ‘agenda’.

‘I’m not an angry black man, I’m a very successful, educated black man with a great family and I’m great at basketball – I’m great at what I do,’ he said, per The Athletic.

‘The agenda to continue to keep making me look like an angry black man is crazy. I’m sick of it. It’s ridiculous.’

Only one player in NBA history – Rasheed Wallace – has more ejections than Green (23). In December 2023, the 35-year-old was given an indefinite suspension by the NBA for striking Suns star Jusuf Nurkic in the face.

It was his third ejection of the season and the NBA said the punishment took into account ‘Green’s repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts’.

After the defeat in Minneapolis, Kerr told The Athletic: ‘He’s going to have to be careful… he’s going to have to stay composed and I’m confident he will because he knows the circumstances.’
