An elderly woman has died after being struck by a cyclist during a charity bike ride, police have said.
Greater Manchester Police said a male cyclist, who was taking part in the Tour de Manc, was riding along Mottram Road in Stalybridge when he was believed to have tried to overtake another cyclist.
He then collided with the woman, 80, as she was walking along the road near the junction with Fern Bank at about 12:00 BST on Sunday, the force said.
Police said the woman was seriously injured and taken to hospital, where she died on Wednesday.
A force spokesperson said the cyclist, who sustained minor injuries, stayed on the scene to assist police.
No arrests have been made, they added.
Other riders or spectators who witnessed the collision have been urged to contact police.
The organisers of the Tour de Manc have been contacted for comment.
