Dave Portnoy admits he has a ‘major issue’ with Donald Trump’s policy on immigration after lamenting his decision to abandon due process rights.

During an appearance on The Megyn Kelly Show, the outspoken founder of Barstool Sports was discussing the US citizen who was wrongly deported to a notorious El Salvador jail due to an ‘administrative error’ earlier this year.

Despite agreeing with conservative podcaster Kelly that the citizen in question should not be used as a ‘poster boy’ for liberals in their protests against Trump due to his alleged crime links, Portnoy went on to hit out at the president’s immigration stance.

‘You [could deport] about 1,000, and if you just pick the wrong guy once, with no due process, nothing, that’s a major issue,’ he told Kelly, who joined Trump on his election campaign trail last year.

‘Say they’re an illegal but they’re a great person and they’re actually contributing, to me just picking them up and getting rid of them… I’d have a problem with that.’

Since his reelection earlier this year, the president has been accused of disregarding due process in immigration court systems in order to fast-track deportations.

Even podcast host Joe Rogan, who supported Trump’s presidential bid last year, described the prospect of sending immigrants to El Salvador with no due process as ‘dangerous’.

‘We gotta be careful that we don’t become monsters while we’re fighting monsters,’ Rogan said.

Portnoy added in his conversation with Kelly: ‘[I want them to have] some due process. When you’re doing it mass, you just can’t ever make a mistake.’

However, he also argued that Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the US citizen wrongly sent to El Salvador, should not be the example for the Democrats to use in their pro-immigration campaign.

Garcia has become a flashpoint for polarized politics, with Republicans labeling him a terrorist and pointing out allegations made by his own wife of beating her.

Liberals, meanwhile, see him as a man both here legally and wrongly deported in their latest outrage toward Trump.

He entered the US illegally in 2011 before a judge blocked his return to El Salvador in 2019, citing the fact that gangsters were after him, but said he could be deported elsewhere.

In court filings this month, the Trump administration said he was deported to El Salvador in error. The Supreme Court has since ordered the Trump administration to facilitate his return to the US.

Trump officials insist Garcia is not an innocent American, as claimed. They say he’s an MS-13 gangster who deserves to be sent back to El Salvador.

Additionally, a 2021 petition for protection from domestic violence filled out by his wife, Jennifer Vasquez, which was obtained first by DailyMail.com, states that the alleged MS-13 member beat his wife multiple times over the years.

‘The Democrats constantly… this is an issue [I can see] the logic behind. But you’re not being sincere when this is your poster child,’ Portnoy concluded.

‘Take out politics, you see this story a lot… do you want him to be your next-door neighbor? Or do you want him out of the country?’
