  • The Gypsy King hung up his gloves for a fourth time after Oleksandr Usyk defeat
  • But speculation has mounted that he could change his mind three months later
  • He has returned to the gym and filmed himself working with SugarHill Steward

Tyson Fury has dropped the latest hint he could perform a retirement U-turn after linking back up with his trainer SugarHill Steward in the gym.

Fury hung up his gloves for a fourth time in January after suffering a second consecutive defeat at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk, but speculation has mounted that he could make a dramatic comeback after returning to full training.

The Gypsy King revealed earlier this year that he has undertaken twice-daily sessions, despite both he and his camp insisting he has stepped away for good.

However, a video posted on his official Instagram page suggested he has indeed changed his mind, and raised the prospect he could finally take on Anthony Joshua.

In the short clip, Fury told his 6.8million followers: ‘I’m just in the gym and happened to bump into somebody you might know. We are back.’

He panned across to Steward, who replied: ‘You know what time it is.’

Steward smiled for the camera and told viewers: 'You know what time it is'

Pointing down the camera, Fury then quipped: ‘You know what’s coming.’

Steward trained Fury for his last seven fights, including his two show-stopping victories over Deontay Wilder, and the Gypsy King’s followers will hope the fact they have reunited means a much-anticipated showdown with Joshua is on the cards.

The two heavyweights have entered negotiations on several occasions but the ‘Battle of Britain’ bout is still to materalise. They came agonisingly close to squaring off in 2020, however, after both fighters held all four major belts between them.

But a judge in the US then ruled that Fury had to honour his contract to fight Wilder for a third time, leading to his date with destiny with Joshua being scrapped.

Joshua was then ordered to face Usyk and lost his IBF, WBO and WBA belts.

Fury also pinned the blame on AJ’s shock knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois last year for derailing the fight, shouting ringside: ‘That’s cost me £150million, the silly c***.’

In an eyebrow-raising turnaround, Fury appears to be edging closer to a return.

Posting on Instagram earlier this month, he looked in high spirits as he ran along Morecambe beach, saying: ‘Second session of the day… absolutely stunning down here tonight. Makes you realise how much I love the training.

‘Love working out, love running.  Twice a day, seven days a week… I’m lucky to be able to work out like this and enjoy it.

‘If you’re thinking about it – may as well go out and do it. No time like the present.’

Promoter Eddie Hearn has continued to push for the mega-millions fight and suggested recently that the ball may now be in Fury’s court.

Hearn said: ‘The way that fight gets made is probably Tyson reaches out to AJ and says, “Mate, do you fancy it?” And he’ll go, “100 per cent, let’s f***ing do it.”‘
