Kansas City Chiefs suffer major cheerleader crisis after Super Bowl heartbreak

The Kansas City Chiefs are not only undergoing a major revamp on the field this offseason – with their cheerleading roster also losing a number of veteran members.

One month on from their Super Bowl thrashing against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Chiefs have announced that nine of their most-experienced cheerleaders are bidding farewell to Arrowhead.

Kansas City announced on Instagram earlier this week that Ashton, Carly, Cassidy, Grace, Gracie, Jordan, Marlee, Raegan and RyleeKate are set to leave the team.

Ashton, Grace and Jordan are the longest-serving members on their way out after four years as Chiefs cheerleaders, while Cassidy, Gracie and Raegan are ending their three-year stints.

Carly and Marlee are leaving after two years, with RyleeKate only spending the 2024 season in Kansas City.

‘Before auditions kick-off, we want to recognize the nine incredible veterans retiring this season! Thank you all for your commitment, kindness, talent, and passion over the years,’ the Chiefs wrote on Instagram alongside photos of the nine girls.

‘We love each one of you and can’t wait to see what your next chapters hold’.

Kansas City still has 25 other girls on its cheerleading team, but will begin the search for new recruits before the 2025 season begins in September.

The mass exodus on the cheerleading squad comes amid a host of high-profile departures from Andy Reid’s Chiefs this offseason.

Earlier this week Mecole Hardman Jr, who scored the winning touchdown in their 2023 Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers, put pen to paper on a deal with the Green Bay Packers after being released in Kansas City.

The 27-year-old wide receiver and return specialist only spent another 18 months at Arrowhead after being traded back there by the New York Jets in 2023.

Former defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi, who collected three Super Bowl rings in seven seasons, has also left the Chiefs this offseason and signed with the Jets.

The likes of Justin Reid and DeAndre Hopkins waved goodbye to Arrowhead before the aforementioned pair having also been released.

Reid has joined the New Orleans Saints on a $32million deal, while Hopkins has signed with the Baltimore Ravens.
