Eligibility criteria

To be eligible, you must

  • Own/manage a Northern Ireland-based food or beverage production business.
  • Be an SME or social enterprise with fewer than 250 staff.
  • Have a turnover between £100,000 and £40 million.
  • Have a minimum of 12 months trading history.

Securing a place on the Trade Missions @ Home programme will be a competitive process and places are limited. Consequently, satisfaction of the eligibility criteria for the programme does not guarantee that an application will be successful.

Additional information

The Trade Missions @ Home programme has been designed for SMEs (including social enterprises) who are looking to take their cross-border exports to the next level. Whether you’re a seasoned exporter, or exporting your products for the very first time, this programme will generate valuable new sales opportunities and set you up with the knowledge and skills required for long-term success.

The programme is open to SMEs that meet the eligibility criteria and who are committed to expanding their cross-border sales. SMEs who have limited or no experience in cross-border trade are particularly encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants will be asked to contribute a £250 / €300 entry fee.

What can your business expect to achieve from Trade Missions @ Home?
  • Comprehensive workshops on how to export your products across the border.
  • Tailored mentoring to help you prepare for the trade visit with confidence.
  • Peer-to-peer networking.
  • Sales opportunities through a trade visit, where meetings with buyers will be organised.
  • Post-mission consultation to develop a strategic plan to continue exploring cross-border opportunities and advancing your sales efforts.
