Juan Soto got the last laugh with the perfect response to a heckler as the New York Mets took on the St. Louis Cardinals in spring training on Monday.

During the game at Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, a fan wearing a green polo was filmed yelling ‘overpaid’ and ‘overrated’ repeatedly as Soto stood on the outfield.

A video posted by Barstool Sports shows Soto acknowledging the heckler by staring at him intensely.

Later in the game, Soto launched a ball right into the area where the heckler stood. Despite his negativity, the fan ended up boxing out to try and catch the ball as it descended over the fence.

However, his catching was nowhere as effective as his heckling abilities as the ball appeared to go right through his hands and farther into the field where fans waited.

The heckler fell to the ground in his failed effort while Soto smirked as he ran across bases.

Juan Soto launched the ball over the fence and towards a heckling fan during Monday’s game

Soto took the baseball world by storm on December 11 when he signed a record 15-year deal worth $765m with the Mets after helping their local rivals, the New York Yankees, toward a World Series appearance.

Before moving to the Bronx to pivoting to Queens, the Dominican superstar spent five years with the Washington Nationals and two with the San Diego Padres.

He joins a Mets team that was inches from facing the Yankees in the World Series before losing to the Dodgers in the NLCS.

Nonetheless, the Mets brushed off the Cardinals with a convincing 8-0 win on Monday.

So far this Spring, Soto is averaging .444 in 18 at-bats and has three home runs.

The Mets will face the Cardinals again on Wednesday after losing to the Astros on Tuesday.
