Xavier Worthy is looking for a clean slate after his recent legal problems, and his appearance was the first to pivot.
The Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver ignited several responses on social media after revealing his new haircut, signaling a fresh start.
Worthy, who became known for his signature braids throughout his college career in Texas and rookie year in the NFL, took to his Instagram story on Sunday and shared his buzz cut, writing ‘New Beginnings.’
Although a simple haircut may not always attract widespread attention, Worthy’s transformation came at a significant time.
Worthy is walking free after authorities declined to press charges in the wake of his shocking arrest on Friday.
Worthy was arrested for allegedly strangling a ‘family or household member’ in the Austin suburb of Georgetown, but the Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick told the Statesman that his office is not accepting the case.

Worthy was arrested on Friday night for assault against a family or household member by impeding breathing or circulation, according to online records reviewed by DailyMail.com
In a statement, Dick said: ‘After further investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and further discussion with a third-party witness, Mr. Worthy, and his attorneys, this case is being declined at this time pending completion of the investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
‘Mr. Worthy and his lawyers are fully cooperating with this investigation. We will continue to evaluate the case. As is our practice with all declines, should you develop additional information indicative of probable cause in this case, our office will consider that information and may present the case at that time to a Williamson County Grand Jury.’
Worthy could have faced up to 10 years in prison if convicted on the charge of ‘assault against a family or household member by impeding breathing or circulation’, a third-degree felony.
Worthy, 21, has been engaged to sprinter Tia Jones since last July. The couple has since revealed they bought a home together in Williamson County, Texas, although it’s unclear if that’s where Friday’s alleged incident is said to have occurred.
In the wake of the arrest, Worthy accused his partner of infidelity and an extortion plot.
