The New York Jets are letting one of their key wide receiver acquisitions in the Aaron Rodgers era seek a trade somewhere else after the team’s poor season in 2024.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets are allowing wideout Allen Lazard to seek a new team via a trade.
Lazard was brought in during the 2023 offseason as a ploy to help make Aaron Rodgers’ life in East Rutherford easier by bringing in a familiar target for their former quarterback.
However, despite their previously successful connection in Green Bay, neither Rodgers or Lazard did particularly well for the Jets.
Lazard arrived in New York the same season that Rodgers did – inking a four-year, $44million contract in March of 2023.
But two lackluster seasons followed – with Lazard also experiencing plenty of injury time.

Lazard disappointed in his career with the Jets, only putting up 841 yards in 26 games

This comes after the Jets announced their plans to move on from quarterback Aaron Rodgers
Schefter reported that the Jets are open to bringing him back to the team. However, previous reporting from other outlets suggest that Gang Green could cut him.
According to the terms of his contract, if Lazard is released after June 1, the team would save $11m and will take on a dead-cap penalty of $2.1m (compared to a dead-cap of $6.5m if they cut him before then).
Lazard’s time in Florham Park was awful. After putting up 788 yards on 100 catches in his final season in Green Bay, the best he could manage in a single-season with the Jets was 530 yards on 60 catches.
In total for his Jets career, Lazard made 60 catches on 109 targets for 841 yards and seven touchdowns across 26 games played.
It was announced last month that the Jets would be ending their Aaron Rodgers experiment and would be moving forward with a new plan at quarterback.
