- John Cena shocked the world by turning heel at WWE Elimination Chamber
- The 47-year-old announced that he will be retiring from wrestling last month
- Cena is level with WWE legend Ric Flair for most world titles in wrestling history
John Cena’s next move after shocking the world with his heel turn and joining forces with The Rock at WWE Elimination Chamber has been revealed.
After winning the elimination chamber, Cody Rhodes came out to face Cena ahead of their WrestleMania 41 showdown. Cena and Rhodes embraced in front of The Rock. With Rhodes’ back turned, The Rock signaled to Cena to attack him.
Cena hit Rhodes with a low blow followed by a punch that left him bleeding. He then pinned Rhodes down while The Rock struck him repeatedly with his belt.
Cena wasn’t done there. Appearing at his press conference afterwards, he simply picked up his microphone and dropped it onto the table before walking out without saying a word to the media.
The news left WWE fans stunned on Saturday night. The WWE account Tribal Wrestling posted: ‘This is one of the most shocking moments in WWE history. How has John Cena turned heel in 2025?’
Following the remarkable night of action in Toronto, Canada, it has now been revealed that Cena is set to miss the next two episodes of WWE Raw.

Last week, CM Punk gave his honest opinion on the likes of The Rock and Cena not turning up each week.
‘I think one of the difficult parts of this being so big, there’s so many moving parts,’ he exclusively told Mail Sport. ‘You’re seeing it with [John] Cena now. Definitely, I have a different perspective on it now than I did 10 years ago when I was working with The Rock.
‘It’s easy for everybody to say, “You’re not here, we’re grinding, we’re doing this”. The schedule now is so much more limited than it was 10 years ago. I can’t point a finger at anybody else and say, “Well, you’re not here”.
‘A guy like John Cena, he’s a busy dude. He’s earned that right. He’s stated that he’s retiring, this is going to be his final run, so I’m less inclined to say, “You should be here doing this, doing that”.
‘Sometimes the tickets sell themselves when we’re in these international markets and you hear John Cena retirement tour, that’s going to put butts on seats.’
In February, Cena announced his retirement after 22 years with the promotion. The 47-year-old wrestler turned Hollywood actor is level with WWE legend Ric Flair for the most world titles in wrestling history with 16.
He’s been at the heart of many of the company’s legendary storylines in the past 20 years, battling the likes of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Triple H, Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton.
Cena’s acting career has taken off in recent years. He starred in the Fast and Furious franchise, as well as Barbie, Daddy’s Home and Trainwreck.
He’s also hosted Saturday Night Live and the ESPY’s and is currently starring in Peacemaker on HBO.
