Commuters are facing 90-minute delays on the M62 in Greater Manchester after a late-night crash closed part of the motorway.
National Highways said the westbound carriageway remained shut by Junction 19 in Heywood after a “serious collision” just after 23:30 GMT on Sunday.
It said a vehicle caught fire in the crash which had led to 10 miles of tailbacks.
Greater Manchester Police said the force was investigating the crash.
