Former NFL punter Chris Kluwe has reportedly been fired from his high-school coaching job after his shocking arrest a recent council meeting in California.
Kluwe was dragged out of the meeting by police for ‘civil disobedience’ after an explosive anti-MAGA rant in which he compared Donald Trump’s supporters to Nazis.
Following his tirade, the ex-Minnesota Vikings star rushed towards council members before being arrested and carried out by police officers.
He was then held in Huntington Beach jail for around four hours before being released and charged with disrupting an assembly.
And according to TMZ Sports, Kluwe has now been dismissed as a football coach for Edison High School in Huntington Beach on the back of the arrest.
The 43-year-old revealed he has been handed his termination papers by the school, where he had been working since 2019.

‘I’m bummed that I won’t get to work with the kids anymore, because they always got excited when they figured out I played in the NFL, and I think this exemplifies what MAGA is all about,’ Kluwe said on Friday.
‘They don’t care about harming the community as long as they can make themselves look good. It’s happening here in HB, and it’s happening nationally across our country.’
Kluwe says he has already received support from at least one parent at the school, who reached out to voice their disapproval of his firing.
The punter-turned-activist is not sure if he will continue coaching football in the future, despite previously setting his sights on doing so at a higher level.
For now he simply plans to continue advocating, telling TMZ: ‘That’s what I’ve always done’.
Kluwe, who played for several NFL teams before retiring in 2013, was speaking at the Huntington Beach council meeting against a plaque in front of the city library when he was arrested earlier this month.
The plaque commemorates the library’s 50th anniversary, describing itself as ‘magical,’ ‘alluring,’ ‘galvanizing’ and ‘adventurous’ – which next to one another, spells out MAGA.
The ex-Minnesota Viking – who describes himself as a ‘troublemaker extraordinaire’ on Bluesky – has since urged elected officials to join him in his ‘peaceful civil disobedience.’
‘I want our elected democratic officials to start engaging in civil disobedience,’ he said in an interview with the Daily Pilot last week.

‘People need to be aware that what’s going on with this administration is leading us down a really dark path. Right now, no one is willing to step up and do that. So, if I want to ask them to do it, then I have to be willing to do it too.’
Although Kluwe praised the Huntington Beach Police Department for their handling of the situation, he launched another vitriolic attack on the city council, accusing them of being unpatriotic.
‘People are speaking out because that’s the American thing to do,’ he told the outlet. ‘You’re a public citizen, your voice should be heard. But it’s very disheartening when your elected officials are not listening to your voice
‘[…] It is profoundly un-American to do what this council is doing, and I think there are a lot of people in this community that get that. At a very visceral level, what we are seeing is not how America is supposed to work.’
While Kluwe had no issue with the plaque, which was approved by the council unanimously as he addressed them, he simply could not accept the use of Trump’s catchphrase on it.
He told the council that MAGA stands for everything from ‘trying to erase trans people from existence,’ ‘re-segregation and racism,’ ‘censorship and book bans’ to ‘firing air traffic controllers while planes are crashing.’
