Claudio Echeverri is set to train with Manchester City for the first time later this week before their FA Cup fifth round tie against Plymouth Argyle.
The Argentina Under-20 midfielder, who shone at the January South American Championships during their run to the final, has flown to England after signing from River Plate.
Echeverri is not expected to be involved with Pep Guardiola’s squad in the build-up to Wednesday night’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur.
But the attacking midfielder should train with the team before Saturday’s visit of Plymouth ahead of potentially a first involvement in a matchday squad when they face Liverpool’s giantkillers.
The 19-year-old agreed to join City last year but remained at River Plate on loan for 12 months and his stock rose further when becoming the driving force during Argentina’s recent Under-20 success.
Captaining the side, Echeverri netted six goals and recorded three assists during the tournament and City will look at his development between now and the end of the season to determine his immediate future.
