After winning the most-hyped hockey game between North American rivals in over 15 years, Canadians are ruthlessly mocking American President Donald Trump and the United States as it’s ’11th province’.
Team Canada defeated Team USA after an overtime goal from Connor McDavid in the 4 Nations Face-Off Final on American ice on Thursday night.
Earlier in the tournament, the USA bested Team Canada in Montreal in a game that reignited the rivalry between North American neighbors.
Many jokes and jabs with political undertones have been traded between the countries, including from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau himself after the win.
It was the Americans doing most of the trash talking leading up to the on-ice showdown.
After the tournament’s conclusion, the disses all came from Canada.

‘TEAM CANADA WINS THE 4 NATIONS FACE-OFF. THEY NOT LIKE US,’ one hockey fan said with a picture of Kendrick Lamar during his Super Bowl halftime performance calling out Drake during ‘Not Like Us’.
‘AM I IN THE 11TH PROVINCE NOW DO I GET HEALTHCARE,’ another Canadian said.
‘We have secured the ultimate prize,’ one person said, calling the body of water below Louisiana and Texas and above Cancun the ‘Gulf of Canada’ amid the talks of the name being either the Gulf of Mexico or the Gulf of America, as Trump has coined it.
‘Now they’re saying it was a nothing tournament. You were talking all the smack all week. Don’t you forget who your hockey daddy is America. THEY NOT LIKE US,’ former NHL Paul Bissonnette said.
‘Canada beats the United States in overtime officially adding America as the 11th province. Congratulations to Premier Trump,’ one Canadian supporter said, installing the American President as Canada’s equivalent of a governor.
‘Obviously Quebec should get Louisiana. But how we divvy up the rest of the states is an open question,’ another person concluded.

It was also the Canadians who defeated the Americans in the last international final involving both countries at full strength at the 2010 Winter Olympics, another overtime win for Canada.
Both teams have also qualified for the Winter Olympics in Milan next year, where another showdown between the countries could occur deeper into the tournament.
The 4 Nations Face-Off will likely be the first chapter of the next set of rivalry showdowns between the countries.
Even if both countries won a game against the other in the tournament, it is Canada that no doubt got the last laugh.
