- Crios O’Hare scored after just 3.68 seconds
- Previous record in Australia was 3.69 seconds
- Was owned by former Socceroo Damian Mori
Crios O’Hare created history recently in the Australia Cup – and goalkeepers taking on Marlin Coast Rangers FC are officially on notice following the brilliant goal from distance.
O’Hare, 38, is the club’s player manager – and he entered the record books following a match against Stratford Dolphins in Far North Queensland on February 8.
Spotting the gloveman off his line from the kick-off, O’Hare tried his luck from near halfway – and it paid dividends.
Tellingly, it only took 3.68 seconds to find the back of the net – eclipsing the 1995 record held by Damian Mori, when the former Socceroo scored after 3.69 seconds for Adelaide City against Sydney United in the old National Soccer League (NSL).
‘As soon as I made contact, it felt nice off the boot and seeing it go through the air, it looked pretty good,’ O’Hare said.
‘It is one of those things I suppose, you don’t really plan for it but saw the ‘keeper off his line a little bit and thought it was worth a crack.
‘It was nice to see it go in.’
O’Hare – who is a football legend in Cairns given his previous success at a number of clubs – is loving his slice of football history.

‘I actually remember Damian Mori’s goal in 1995, I really liked him as a player,’ O’Hare said.
‘I did try it a couple of years ago against [local FNQ rivals] Leichhardt and it came off the crossbar..so it was nice to see it go in this time.’
Gavin Stokes, who plays in Scotland’s non-league, holds the world record for the quickest ever goal in a recorded football match.
He scored after just 2.10 seconds for Maryhill against Clydebank in a 2017 match.
It is understood Stokes’ brilliant effort was 0.1 seconds faster than Vuk Bakic’s strike from a clash between GSP Polet and FK Dorcol in the Serbian Second Division in 2012.
