Shropshire Council is thrilled to announce that its Shire Services recently triumphed at the prestigious APPG (All Party Parliamentary Group) Excellence in School Food Awards 2025.
Shire Services’ innovative initiatives and unwavering commitment to promoting healthy eating among children have been recognised with the Group category award, a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Shire Services team.
The Excellence in School Food Awards celebrate outstanding achievements in promoting healthy eating and improving school food standards across the UK. This year, Shropshire Council’s Shire Services marketing planner, packed with 21 initiatives for schools to choose from, stood out among the competition. The planner has led to a remarkable 19% increase in meal income, improved client loyalty, and better community engagement.
The positive feedback from schools and parents highlights the success of these initiatives in promoting healthy eating and supporting educational outcomes.
Susan Vuli, General Manager, and Lauren Moore, Area Manager (Catering), were also recognised as finalists in the Individuals category, each receiving a certificate for their exceptional contributions.
Susan’s initiatives in fitness, wellbeing, staff development, and community engagement have transformed the work environment, fostering a culture of support and excellence.
Lauren’s efforts in client care, meal income increase, and promoting healthy eating habits among students have been equally impactful.
Dean Carroll, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing and Assets, expressed his pride in the team’s achievements:
