Tottenham hold an interest in Chelsea defender Axel Disasi as an alternative to Fikayo Tomori in their efforts to sign a new centre back ahead of Monday’s deadline.
Spurs are in talks with AC Milan over a swoop for Tomori, but it is unclear whether the England defender is ready to leave Italy for a move to Ange Postecoglou’s side.
The former Chelsea centre back was in talks to join Juventus and also has interest from Aston Villa. Milan want around £25m but Tottenham may offer an initial loan.
And Mail Sport understands Disasi is one of Tottenham’s options if a move for Tomori proves unsuccessful.
Chelsea are ready to sanction an exit for Disasi in the coming days, and there is significant interest in the 26-year-old central defender from a number of Premier League clubs.
Wolves and Aston Villa are among the clubs to hold an interest in Disasi heading into the final hours of the window.

Spurs currently have three defensive injuries, with Radu Dragusin their most recent casualty
Spurs fear centre back Radu Dragusin will miss a large chunk of the season with an injury suffered in midweek.
As a result, they have made a deal for a new centre back a priority.
Tottenham have been plagued by injuries this season, especially defensively, with youngster Archie Gray often having to fill in at centre-back.
Micky van de Ven returned to action against Elfsborg in the Europa League and signing Tomori would provide Postecoglou with another impressive option at centre-back.
Cristian Romero remains sidelined and Postecoglou hinted that he could look to bring in a defender if Radu Dragusin’s injury proves to be serious.
‘Depending on the extent of Radu, it might be an area we need to look at and certainly this weekend we are exploring some options,’ said the Spurs boss, ahead of Sunday’s Premier League game at Brentford.
‘It’s hard to tell. It’s a knee, so we’ve got to let it settle down. There’s always concern when there’s a knee injury but we don’t know the extent.’
After missing out on Bayern Munich winger Mathys Tel, Tottenham have made a shock enquiry for Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho.
After Dragusin’s mid-week injury in the Europa League, Ange Postecoglou revealed that Spurs may have to look for defensive reinforcements before deadline day on Monday
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy travelled to Munich on Friday try and convince Tel to join Spurs after they had a deal worth £50m with Bayern, but was unsuccessful in his attempt.
Postecoglou’s strugglers have a Premier League-high nine players currently sidelined with injuries.
They have conceded a whopping 37 goals in the league this season and are currently without Destiny Udogie, Romero and Dragusin in their back line.
Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario fractured his foot in November and his absence has certainly played a part in Spurs’ leaky defensive record.
