After the Washington Commanders won their first playoff game since January 2006 on a last-second field goal, NFL fans all said the same thing about the Wild Card round victory – doink!
The Commanders bested the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road 23-20, on a Zane Gonzalez field goal as time expired, with the kick hitting the upright and bouncing through the goalposts for the game-winning trio of points.
Washington’s 19-year wait for a postseason win, and all the troubles the team had faced since that 2006 victory, also on the road against the Buccaneers, came down to a matter of inches.
And the kick hitting the upright on the way through the goal posts counts all the same.
‘Script writers loving the doink this year,’ one NFL fan said.
‘Sometimes it better to be lucky than good! Wow!’

The Commanders were the first road team to win during Wild Card weekend, with the first four teams to not win their division to play all losing.
Washington will attempt to make its first NFC Championship Game since the 1991 season next Saturday when they travel to face the Detroit Lions.
The Lions went 15-2 in the regular season and made last year’s NFC Championship Game.
The final spot in the Divisional round will be claimed on Monday night by either the Minnesota Vikings or the Los Angeles Rams.
