New England Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski does not believe Travis Kelce’s production is a sign that the Chiefs star’s NFL retirement is imminent.
Gronkowski responded to the building criticism around Kelce, with him not buying why he’s catching such heat.
The 35-year-old Kelce has 89 catches for 739 yards and two touchdowns with two games remaining in the NFL’s regular season.
There have never been more eyes on Kelce, both on the gridiron and off of it due to his relationship with Taylor Swift.
That spotlight has led to more criticism and more attention from defenders. The Chiefs are still 14-1 despite any drop in form from Kelce.
‘I believe he can go at least another two years. We’re talking his stats being down. How are your stats down if you have 80-plus catches at 35 years old?’ Gronkowski said.
Many have criticized Travis Kelce for a drop in his production in 2024 due to outside factors
Gronkowski does not understand why Kelce’s season has been diminished by some this year
Gronkowski cited his own career, with him passing the 80-catch plateau twice in his career, both coming at ages 25 or younger. Kelce has crossed that threshold every year since 2016.
Kelce’s non-football career has included his podcast, ‘New Heights’, which he hosts with older brother and retired NFL legend Jason Kelce, reportedly landing a $100million deal with Wondery this year.
The Chiefs sensation was also the host of the revival game show ‘Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?’, where he rubbed elbows with other famous faces like Nikki Glaser, who starred at Tom Brady’s Netflix roast earlier this year.
Most criticism of Kelce looks too harshly at his touchdown total, down from the disappointing five scores he had last season.
Yet, most Chiefs fans won’t care if Kelce never scores again if the team keeps winning on the way to a possible third consecutive Super Bowl.
