A fired-up college football coach was left with blood pouring down his forehead after headbutting one of his players in a bizarre moment before their game on Saturday.
As they prepared to take on arch-rivals Arizona State, Arizona defensive assistant Chuck Cecil saw an unusual tactic to try and motivate one of his cornerbacks backfire in painful fashion.
Fox Sports television cameras captured the moment Cecil grabbed Owen Goss, who was wearing a helmet at the time, and violently smacked his head onto the Wildcats defender’s protective gear.
After then slapping him on the head, the Arizona assistant was pushed by Goss before he responded with some aggressive shoves of his own to fire the player up before the game.
And having decided to headbutt him without wearing a helmet himself, Cecil suffered a nasty cut to his forehead.
Later in the game the 60-year-old could be seen looking on from the sidelines with blood trickling down his head, which was a sign of things to come for Arizona.

Despite Cecil’s aggressive attempts to fire them up, the Wildcats were beaten 49-7 by the Sun Devils at Arizona Stadium.
Arizona State went into the halftime break leading 35-0, before Arizona scored their first touchdown of the day and converted it in the third quarter.
However, the Sun Devils went on to add 14 more points in the fourth quarter to wrap up a resounding victory.
Cecil, who was a Pro Bowl safety in his own playing career, has spent over two decades as a coach.
The former Green Bay Packers star spent nine years in a variety of roles with the Tennessee Titans before a four-year stint as a secondary coach for the LA Rams.
He joined Arizona in 2018 and has held several defensive jobs with the team over the past seven seasons.
