Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jared McCain was taken to the hospital to be evaluated for a concussion after a nasty fall during an NBA preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets.
The play occurred in the fourth quarter of the home contest for the Sixers when McCain went up for a rebound on a shot that he missed.
The ball was swatted back by Ziaire Williams of the Nets – who made contact with McCain’s arm in mid-air, causing the Sixer to start falling backwards.
McCain landed hard on the court – trying to break his fall with his arm but with his head taking the brunt of the collision.
He laid on the ground for some time after the fall – with Sixers training staff helping him off the floor.

McCain had shot 3-for-10 on the night getting nine points and seven rebounds before leaving
According to Sixers coach Nick Nurse after the game, McCain was sent to the hospital to be evaluated for a concussion amongst other things.
The coach added that he’d ‘never seen anything quite like McCain’s reaction on the court after the fall,’ according to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps.
McCain had shot 3-for-10 from the field and 3-for-6 from beyond the arc before leaving from his injury – picking up nine points, seven rebounds, and two assists along with five turnovers on the night.
He was taken 16th overall by Philadelphia in the first round of this year’s NBA Draft after playing his college ball at Duke University.
There, he helped lead the Blue Devils to an Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Tournament before they fell to North Carolina State.
