- Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo will receive huge prizes
- He won two gold medals at the Olympic Games
- Yulo has been granted a lifetime supply of colonscopies
Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo has made himself a national icon following his heroics in Paris.
The 24-year-old is taking home two historic gold medals from the Olympic Games and is set for a hero’s welcome when he touches down back home.
And according to CNBC, Yulo is set for huge rewards aside from his gold medals.
He will reportedly receive 10 million pesos (£136,591) from the Philippine government, as well as a further 6 million pesos (£81,955) in cash incentives from the House of Representatives.
But in addition to the cash, he has also been shown support by local businesses. Yulo has been gifted a three-bedroom property in Taguig City, plus a lifetime supply of ramen, mac and cheese, and colonoscopies.
‘Congratulations to our very own Golden Boy on clinching his second gold medal in men’s artistic gymnastics – vault!’ a ramen bar in Calasiao said in a social media post.
‘To celebrate your outstanding achievement, we are thrilled to extend a special gift: FREE LIFETIME RAMEN not just for you, but also for your wonderful and supportive girlfriend, Chloe Anjeleigh. Enjoy the taste of victory and love with every bowl!’
Yulo has won the first medal of any colour for his country in gymnastic and only the second (and third) gold medal in its Olympic history.

‘I was just hoping to perform well. I didn’t really expect a medal. It really felt like a bonus for me. It’s crazy, because last night I couldn’t sleep,’ Yulo said on Sunday.
‘It still didn’t sink in. This morning I was so sleepy. I didn’t know what to do. But I did it today,’ he said.
President of the Philippines, Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr said on Facebook: ‘Filipinos all over the world stood united, cheering and rooting’ for Yulo.
‘No words can express how proud we are of you, Caloy. You have achieved GOLD for the Philippines not once, but twice!’
Yulo’s prizes are rather extravagant compared to that received by Australian athletes.
Stars who win gold receive $20,000, silver medallists are rewarded with $15,000 while those who clinch bronze win $10,000 under the Australia Olympic Committee’s medal incentive fund.
Athletes who receive multiple golds will still only receive $20,000 in total.
In comparison, athletes from Hong Kong who win gold receive $1.17million and Singapore athletes who take the top prize scoop $1.13m.
