Register your interest in the 2026 Smart Nano NI 5G and Photonics Programme

This programme will help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) develop game-changing advanced prototyping and smart manufacturing methods to deliver new technologies.

What’s on offer

Run by Digital Catapult as part of the Smart Nano NI consortium, the programme supports innovation and industrial growth through two strands

  • Future Networks Technology Access Programme offering 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) hands‑on support to design, test and improve connected devices using one of Northern Ireland’s largest private 5G networks.
  • Integrated Photonics Bootcamp offering hands-on training to help you design and make modern photonics components used in areas like communications, sensors and manufacturing.

Who can apply

The programme is open to Northern Ireland SMEs working with or exploring

  • 5G, IoT or digital connectivity
  • artificial intelligence or data‑driven manufacturing
  • photonics, optics or chip design
  • digital manufacturing or automation technologies

Why take part

You will get practical support to

  • test ideas in a real industrial environment
  • access specialist expertise and facilities
  • build new digital and manufacturing skills
  • connect with potential partners and customers

Previous participants from sectors including food production, healthcare, and equipment manufacturing have used the programme to develop prototypes, trial new technologies and form lasting collaborations.
