The Arts Council of Northern Ireland is welcoming applications for the 2025 Rosy James Memorial Trust Award

This award aims to support makers steeped in practice using materials singly or in combination. Such materials might include

  • fired clay or glass
  • fine or base metals
  • textiles
  • wood
  • plastics
  • paper or other materials not included in this list

Established in 2014 by the Arts Council, the Rosy James Memorial Trust Award stems from the generosity of Rosemary James (Rosy), a devoted local arts patron. Hailing from Belfast, Rosy dedicated her life to the arts. Upon her passing in 2010, she generously bequeathed over £500,000 to support artists and craft makers in advancing their careers.

Previous award recipients include glass artists Alison Lowry, ceramicist Eleanor Wheeler and sculptor John Rainey, Sheena Devit and ceramicist, Anne Butler and furniture designer, Brian McKee.

How to apply

To apply, you must complete the Rosy James Memorial Trust Award application form and email it to [email protected].

You must return your completed form by midday on Friday 11 July 2025.

Before submitting your application, you can get advice from the Arts Council Visual Arts team by emailing Suzanne Lyle at [email protected].
